As a Designer at Foolproof, my role is to ensure that design is driven by insights from research and that they are translated into holistic integrated solutions. I work closely with consultants in research to uncover design opportunities, flag design pain points and produce design recommendations and strategy. I focus on designing these solutions and communicating them through powerful storytelling.
Prior to Foolproof, I worked in ONG&ONG’s Experience Design Studio; an architectural firm started by Singapore’s late President Ong Teng Cheong, where I gained experience working on projects from transport and wayfinding, to food and hospitality, to workplace strategy and design. My professional works bagged the Singapore Good Design Mark Award in 2014 and even received a nomination for the esteem President’s Design Award in 2015.
The transition from designing physical space to digital has given me a broader perspective as well as equipping me with a better understanding of the fast-paced, complex, world that we live in today. I have a strong interest in uncovering the correlation between the physical and the digital (and vice-versa), and how it affects and influences human behaviour.
My curiosity led me to pursue my BA on a prestigious Goh Chok Tong (then Prime Minister and Senior Minister of Singapore) distinction award scholarship. I hold a First Class Honours in BA(Hons) Interaction Design Arts from one of the world’s top 5 leading universities in Art & Design – University of the Arts London.
Outside of Foolproof, I am the founder of ‘Design Says Hello’ a community movement that is geared towards advocating design as a catalyst for social change. I host community events, talks, and create platforms for conversations on design to happen. I have made documentary films that explore design in Singapore which have made their way onto mainstream television.
If not designing, travelling, making films or doing photography, I like to make music within the four walls of my room and occasionally perform on the big stage. Oh yes, I love football too!
