Foolproof and NatWest - Design Thursdays
Establishing a culture of critique
Hello everyone and many thanks for having me today to ramble through our approach to embedding a culture of critique in our studio. I hope you took something away from it, and I’m always happy to talk more about critique, or anything at all human-centred design. As I said, we’re literally round the corner in London but would love to connect with any of the NatWest team, wherever you are.
I’ve put together a more usable version of the presentation from today, with just the really actionable bits.

I also made reference to a few articles and books in the session. Obviously, you can search up the articles, but here’s the one where the really short definition of design critique comes from. It’s a Neilsen Norman Group article, with a slightly different approach to critique, but as we know, there’s thousands of definitions out there, so might as well start somewhere!

That article actually references the excellent book by punk rock UX god Aaron Irizarry, Discussing Design. It’s old but good, and worth a read if you’re going to dig deeper into any of the ideas and issues around design feedback.
